My initial thought was "my why?"
What the heck does that mean?
I soon found out that knowing your why of what you want is going to be the key to actually helping you achieve it.
It is your motivator, your key ingredient to help drive you when the going gets tough.
... and being an Entrepreneur or what is also referred to as a lifestyle entrepreneur requires ?you to be tough. Starting out is challenging and requires you to have a solid foundation to push through.
Having this dream and desire to have all the toys is natural, especially considering my age at the time. When you are young this seems like a nice idea. When you are limited, this seems only natural.
I achieved a lot at this stage. I figured things out. I got the cool car, the nice house the big flat screen TV (almost in every room), Bose Surround sound system that was killer.
But then I started traveling for work. I was a Sr. Consultant and worked all over the globe. I learned to live out of my suitcase.
My "Why" started to shift...
When I was traveling, my family time became extremely important.
The schedule I followed was a bit nuts.
Under my contract, I would plan to be onsite at the clients location for four weeks, then come home for a week. I always became so excited about the third week in because I know I would be going home for that week to see my family.
However, sometimes those four weeks on would sometimes turn into 5, 6 or even 7 weeks gone. That was difficult.
My wife and I stated drifting apart during this time period.
And when my turn of duty was over for my last project, she come to me wanting a divorce.
This brought me to the stage that I am currently in.
My "Know your why"? moved to a third stage...
As I was going through my divorce U decided to travel a bit.
First I took my youngest to North Carolina and we enjoyed visiting my mom and some of my extended family.
Then about two weeks after we got home I grabbed a flight to the Philippines and spend almost a month in El Nido, Palawan, Philippines.
Those Islands are amazing.
And those two vacations are the first I took in about 5 years.
Material things are nice but I do not want the kind that hold me to one place.
I want the experience, I want to live life on my terms.
However, discovered my ladder had been leaning against the wrong wall, I am in the process of fixing that. I am what I refer to as a Lifestyle Entrepreneur.
Now I know that my lifestyle may not be what you are interested in. You may need cash at this moment and want the toys.
That is perfectly fine.
The importance of knowing your why is incredibly valuable to your success.
Simply spend some time thinking and start asking yourself, what truly excites you and why. Write this down, review it constantly and visualize over and over again.
This is what is going to make you successful.
I followed this method plus continued my education to build my Lifestyle Entrepreneur business.
